Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with NJ state standards.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through various formative and summative assessments.
• Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by school policy and regulations.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to support student learning and well-being.
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
• Provide accommodations and modifications as necessary to support student success.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Science.
• Valid New Jersey teaching certification in the appropriate subject area.
• Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) Certification or Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD), or be willing to return to school for TOSD.
• Previous teaching experience a plus, preferably in an alternative school setting or with students with special needs.
• Understanding of effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
• Passion for sharing knowledge of your subject area with creativity and enthusiasm.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
• Assist teachers in the development and implementation of lesson plans, activities, and classroom management.
• Support individual students or small groups with instructional tasks and classroom activities.
• Adapt instructional materials and resources to meet students' varying needs and abilities.
• Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them stay focused, engaged, and on-task during lessons.
• Monitor and document student progress and behavior, providing feedback to the lead teacher and parents as needed.
• Assist with the supervision of students during transitions, lunch, and other activities to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide necessary accommodations and modifications for students with special needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other staff to support students' academic and social-emotional development.
• Assist in preparing and organizing classroom materials and resources.
• Participate in professional development and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
• Basic understanding of educational principles and classroom management techniques.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with students with special needs or in an alternative education setting.
• Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education practices.
• Certification as a substitute teacher
