Health and Safety at Chancellor Academy

At Chancellor Academy, the health and safety of our students are our top priorities. For any concerns or changes regarding your child's physical or mental health, medication, or emergency information, please do not hesitate to contact our school nurse, Stacey Connolly, BSN, RN, CSN-NJ. She is available to address any questions you may have.

Emergency Health Plans:

If your child has acute medical conditions, such as food allergies, asthma, diabetes, or seizures, please contact us immediately. It is crucial to establish an emergency plan to ensure their safety.

Attendance and Illness

We understand the importance of attendance for our students' academic success. However, to maintain a healthy school environment, we urge any student who is experiencing symptoms such as a fever, vomiting, or cold/flu-like symptoms to stay home. Please inform the school nurse for further guidance.

Medications in School
Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medications:

All medications that need to be administered during school hours require proper documentation. This includes:

• A completed medication form, signed by both the physician and the parent/guardian.

• Medications must be brought to school by an adult and, if prescription, in the original medicine bottle with a pharmacy label.

Students are not allowed to carry any medication during school hours without appropriate authorization.
Asthma Management

Students with asthma may self-carry and self-administer medication, provided there is a New Jersey State mandated Asthma Action Plan on file in the nurse's office.

Life-Threatening Allergies

For students with life-threatening allergies requiring the use of an Epi-Pen, please ensure that the school nurse is informed immediately. This enables us to collaborate in providing a safe learning environment. Appropriate forms prescribed by a physician need to be completed and filed with the nurse's office.

Note: All medication forms are valid for only one school year and must be renewed annually in compliance with the State of New Jersey mandates.

For any further questions, please contact the school nurse at any time.
